CHEHALIS – The Lewis County Coroner’s Office said the woman who was found dead in the Skookumchuck River on Monday is 40-year-old Tina A. Thode of Chehalis.

She is the woman police suspected she was, Coroner Warren McLeod said this morning.

McLeod said he doesn’t yet know how she died.

A pair of teenagers floating down the river in Centralia spotted the body and contacted authorities on Monday evening. Centralia police said there were no obvious signs of traumatic injury or foul play, but that responders had spent several hours on Saturday night trying to locate Thode in the same area when she called 911 and said she was lost.

The search ended after responders got word someone had seen Thode and said she was okay, according to Centralia Police Department detective Sgt. Pat Fitzgerald.

McLeod described Thode as a Chehalis resident, although he could not pinpoint her current address. She has grown children, parents and siblings who live in the area, he said.

An autopsy was conducted today, but a determination about the cause and manner of Thode’s death won’t come until after microscopic studies are done and the results of toxicology tests come back, according to McLeod. The tests can take eight to 10 weeks.

You fucking people need to get a life I don’t post on this shit but she was my friend and blaming te cops and saying she killed herself how about you keep your opinions to Uyourself no one cares what u have to say her family and friends read this how low and disrespectful are u people takes a petty big person to show such ugliness about someone they don’t know the first thing about get a life and stop talking about someone elses

  3. curiousastowhy says:

Also i heard 3 local losers were the last to have seen her scumbags whats going on with thaf

  4. curiousastowhy says:

What i want to know is why have they released her 911 calls and not the one from yhat person who called n said sge was ok

  5. Aaron says:

Police are NOT required to respond to *anything*. You could call 911 and say someone was mowing down a school bus full of nuns with an AK-47. They are NOT required to respond.

  6. NotThatDeep says:

It’s truly too bad there is not more information about the search efforts by the police in this article. It miiiiight paint a more accurate picture of how police handled that call.

Oftentimes, holes in the story are filled in with other people’s stupidity.

  7. bahlsdeep says:

One last comment before throwing down the mic and walking away.

Amazed believes that first responders are obligated by law to respond if someone calls 911 and says that they are going to kill themselves. That is a farce. In Thurston County, you will not get a response from anyone unless there is a second person in danger. It IS NOT A CRIME to kill yourself.

  8. dericdeep says:

Im Amazed (yes this is specifically targeted) that someone with absolutely no idea of what they’re talking about can get on a public blog, stand on the grave of a dead woman, and use it as a soap box to voice their disdain for the first responders that tried to find her. Oh, and it wasn’t just the Centralia Police, who were also having to deal with drunks fighting in front of the el amigo, I heard a deputy and several members of the fire department out there, to include a captain and chief. I heard the police Sgt call for a plane with FLIR to fly over but got denied. So before you desecrate this poor woman any further and only add insult to an already grieving community TO INCLUDE THE POLICE OFFICERS THAT KNEW HER, (yes I know one of them that searched) why don’t you Amaze us all and keep your toxic comments to yourself!!!

To the family, being friends with one who searched and even arrested her before, I assure you the officers and firemen do NOT discriminate against people with addictions and tried everything they could with what little resources they had. I know nothing will bring her back, but one of the officers that knew her told me that he has hope that she knew the Truth.

  9. Amazed says:

OMG! Do you mean to tell me that it was THE CENTRALIA PD K9 unit that found that person on Hwy 6? Imagine that, I’m glad someone else knows a few facts around here. Call me a cop basher if you please, frankly I don’t care. Wrongful death…do your research. The autopsy should show approx. when she died & the cause. If I call & say I’m going to kill myself even to a state or government agency(not 911) has to contact 911 & has to send a responder to check on me. When they get to my location, are they required to check on me or not? Why does law enforcement respond to calls of such nature if they have no intentions of doing anything? You people don’t care for the same reason the cops didn’t care…she was a known drug user. End of story.

  10. Fitzwell says:

Yes, the police should have exhausted all resources to undo years of drug use and mental issues. Time machines do not exist folks.

  11. Ford Galaxy 500 says:

The police should’ve conducted a “welfare” check! Since when do the police take someones word without validating it beforehand? I feel for the family. God bless!

  12. hotrodmom says:

So people that know a lost person can call off a police search? So does that mean on a 911 hangup call any random person can assure the caller is safe and the cops will take their word for it? If she was so lost she called the cops for help how did she find her way according to this person that called off the police search?

  13. bahlsdeep says:

Those weren’t kind words Donna. Those were excuses and cop bashing opinions. I am sorry for your loss though.

  14. donna says:

thank you amazed. i am her sister . i so appreciate your kind words.

  15. Disgusted (the Original) says:

    To Amazed:

    Ditto what bahlsdeep says.

In this litigious society some people will try to put the blame on anyone else for their own stupidity, then try to sue them. It’s ridiculous. This was a grown woman with, from what I understand, a somewhat checkered past. Now, I’m not saying that meant that she deserved to die but if she was a tweaker, she could very well have been in a state of meth induced psychosis when she got “lost.”

And I’ve know enough tweakers that I speak from experience when I tell you that most of them are psychotic (and don’t even realize it), dishonest, lazy and stupid. They do a lot, because of the nature of the drug, but they never accomplish anything to speak of . . . in spite being perpetually busy doing nothing.

  16. bahlsdeep says:

Amazed- “A term used when one lacks education”. Wrongful death doesn’t fit here. CPD didnt cause her death nor have knowledge that she would be found dead. The person who called off the search was the one who told police that she was fine. That person may have some explaining. As for the Hwy 6 K9 track you speak of, it was a Centralia Police K9 who found that douche nossle.

Common sense isn’t so common. Sue everyone you can and blame the first responders in a minute for a persons death that is not their issue. Capes and phone booths don’t exist Amazed.

  17. Amazed says:

My thoughts and prayers go out to her Family & friends. This looks to me like a pretty clear Wrongful death lawsuit that should be pursued by an attorney outside of Lewis County of course. The Police have reported that she herself called 911 stating she was lost near the river. The first article that was released said she was a person known to law enforcement. I’d bet they knew who they were looking for when they searched as well as when they stopped searching. What happened to the requirement to “make contact with the caller”. How about if law enforcement takes responsibility for their actions on this one. Did they make use of any of their K-9 unit dogs? Kind of strange how the sheriffs dept. can find some guy hiding in the bushes off hwy 6 (after the gun incident at the gas station) But Centralia Police can’t find someone who has called for help, given her location & boom ends up being found by kids Dead the next day in the Exact area they were supposedly searching.?? I don’t know this woman or any of her family, I don’t care that she has previous drug convictions or was in drug court or any of what’s been said about her. The Citizens of this county should be outraged by the actions of those Officers. What if that were your child, sister or mother?

  18. Old Long Johnson says:

Well, the Centralia Police have already determined that there was “nothing suspicious” and “no foul play involved”.

So there you go. Take it with a grain of salt. By no means should you take what the Centralia PD says as TRUTH!!!

  19. Hello says:

Don’t you think it’s kinda funny that a man seen hr and said she was okay and then she’s found dead in the river? and this was after she had called for help?
