News brief: Mossyrock’s Chief Stamper leaves department

By Sharyn  L. Decker
Lewis County Sirens news reporter

Mossyrock Police Chief Jeremy Stamper has resigned, taking the one-person department down to none.

Jeannette Miller, city clerk for the central Lewis County town of some 750 people, said the city council has not yet decided how it will proceed. The mayor only notified the council last week, she said.

They have placed an advertisement for a new chief however, Miller said today.

Mossyrock Mayor Tom Meade said at the end of June he had full confidence in his chief, even though the chief’s wife had secured a protection order against her husband a month earlier.

Four days after the temporary order was put into place by the court for a year, Stamper’s wife Shannon Stamper filed a request for it to be withdrawn. It was terminated on July 1.

Miller said the chief’s last day was July 6, and he had given his two week notice more than two weeks before that.

He’s moving out of the state, she said.  He was hired by the city in 2003.

Jeremy Stamper didn’t return a phone call seeking comment.

Yet here we are, reading and discussing what the Media has posted. Like shows on tv, it’s our choice to watch/read.

I wonder if Admin Sharyn is making a file of “What NOT To Report On”…. police restraining orders, maybe. Sex offenders, no!

  2. ROK says:

Name change isn’t fooling anybody. You are too predictable, right down to your filthy mouth. As I said before, some things and some people will never change.

  3. GuiltyBystander says:

But it’s STILL the media’s fault, no name. They have no right to report on restraining orders being issued against police chiefs. Everybody knows that.

  4. tasha says:

ALL OF YOU ONLY KNOW HEAR-SAY AND WHAT THE MEDIA FEEDS YOU!! LEAVE IT ALONE ALREADY ITS OVER AND DONE AND THERE ISNT A GOD DAMN THING ANY OF YOU CAN DO ABOUT ANY OF IT BUT BITCH TALK SHIT AND KEEP DRAGGING IT ON!!

  5. no name says:

Court cases are (usually) open to the public, and once one becomes a public servant then yes, their private lives are very hard to keep private.

  6. onecomment says:

let me just tell you that you might think you know who i am but from what youve just posted you are wrong he is not me relative so maybe try harder next time okay superman

  7. ROK says:

Onecomment, actually you are wrong. I do know him, I am just not related to him. Therefore I don’t have the need or desire to defend him. As far as the media goes, they aren’t solely at fault for info being out there. At least one of the Stamper couple chose to spew their family issues all over town. I PERSONALLY overheard one such conversation. So I guess there are others who know things, not just you. But keep telling yourself how right you are, if that’s what helps you sleep at night. By the way, I am neither a shit bag nor a tweaker. I have lived in this community my entire life, except for attending college, and I am a contributing member to this community..hell my spouse and I even support our family all on our own! I know your family, including Jeremy and am rightfully entitled to my opinion, based on that knowledge. I will continue to hope good and positive things for Shannon and the kids.

rok he is some kind of a wonderful man im guessing you dont know him, so ill let you think whatever the hell you beating lil heart desires!! i believe they could fix their marriage anywhere as well, however, when the media gets ahold of things and adds a twist no matter what the isusse is regaining whats been fucked around in such a small community!! as i look at it they are on to a better place where they can be happy without mossyrocks tweakers\shit bags stuck on this matter making up more and more as time goes on….and clearly i was not blaming anyone person for anyone elses problems as ive stated before im aware of both sides! and as far as this whole they did it themselves thing….THEY did NOT ONCE ASK THE MEDIA TO BUTT IN AND GO PUBLIC WITH THEIR CASE!!

  9. ROK says:

LOL @onecomment. It’s funny how you try to twist everything to appear as though Jeremy is some kind of wonderful man who couldn’t possibly do any of these things. Of course, everybody else is lying, correct? You are laughable, trying to defend him. If they were going to “fix” this, they could fix it anywhere, including here. Stop blaming their issues on everybody else. Sadly, until he admits he has a problem, there is no fix. You also are clearly identifying yourself, even as hard as you try not to. I am glad you have at least cleaned up your language from what it usually is. Some things and some people will never change.

It would be simple enough to check the court papers to find out exactly what was said. Name calling isn’t necessary to prove a point.

  11. onecomment says:

i was in court jackass and heard what he said and i dont recall he said that!! i believe what was said was he’s had a few beers since then the saturday before court!! i also know the ua goes back 6 days for alcohol!! you pitty ass people go ahead and believe everything the media tells because clearly the press knows it all and on june 10 there was NO MEDIA PERSON PRESENT!

  12. ROK says:

Onecomment, read the previous articles. He said in court that he hadn’t had alcohol since May 20 but a court ordered UA on June 10 showed alcohol in his system. He lied. The court official reminded Mrs. Stamper of this when she said she wanted to terminate the protection order. I would venture to say that wasn’t the only thing he has lied about.

  13. onecomment says:

hey mom nw prove how he lied in court????? are you him or anyone that was in the court room when he lied? this is public because of the job he held the media eats at these stories and adds their own shit as well!!

  14. ROK says:

This certainly is not about other people talking shit and starting rumors. Jeremy and his wife made this mess and brought it into the public eye. And just for the record, this isn’t the first time they have tried to “fix” things. She moved out of state once before, away from him. He somehow got her to come back and the whole dysfunction started again. How much do these poor kids have to witness and how much damage has to be done to them before these parents will figure it out? I just pray for the wife’s and kids’ safety, because I don’t think he’s a “stand up” guy. And no, he has never ticketed or arrested me, in case that was going to be the next comment made.

  15. Free Air says:

As far as law enforcement goes, I had heard there might be an agreement between either Morton PD or Lewis County Sheriff’s Office until such time a replacement is found.
Either way, Mossyrock will be covered.

  16. GuiltyBystander says:

According to this story, Jeremy Stamper turned in his two-week notice MORE than two weeks before July 6, his last day on the job. That dates back to June 22 at the latest. It’s now 24 days since Stamper served notice and Jeanette Miller says the “city council has not yet decided how it will proceed” while Mossyrock has no (zero) police officers.

Why, three weeks after Stamper gave notice and ten days since he left, is there no plan to replace him beyond posting the job opening? Interesting, too, that Tom Meade said he had “full confidence” in his chief at the end of June, which would’ve been about a week AFTER Stamper turned in his notice.

Hope they get things figured out in a hurry because the Blueberry Festival is 17 days away and there’ll be a lot of people in Mossy for that.

  17. Mom_NW says:

Hey onecomment…This was not caused by people talking shit. This was caused by a husband and wife who could not separate amicably. They did this. Not the public. No one would have known what was going on, had they not drug it out into public. So maybe YOU should take your own advice. As citizens we should be able to trust law enforcement. A “good man” does not lie in court to an officer of the court. So take your “almighty” attitude someplace else. I personally have never had a run in with the law of any sort, I have witnessed what abuse does to children, and that is life changing.

  18. Mom_NW says:

I think it is a shame that the mayor of Mossyrock, stood behind a police chief who lied in court. He should have been fired. Thankfully he left on his own, but it sad that he went with his wife.

  19. onecomment says:

🙂 moving out of state as a family TOGETHER to fix what is impossible to fix after all the bullshit and rumors here!! i wish all 7 of them the best and i also wish all of you who are talking shit about him learn to keep your trap shut when you either have no clue or your just pissed because of a past ticket or arrest!!

  20. Free Air says:

I had heard he was moving to be closer to the kids and ex-wife since she went out of state with the kids, but that’s only the local rumor.
Either way, I wish them all the best. Divorces can be messy. I applaud him for trying to fulfill his fatherly duties.

  21. bahlsdeep says:

Booze, bills and bitches will take any man’s career if

  22. Tina says:

I think this is the best resolution for all involved. Jeremy is an angry little man. I hope his family will not go with him for their own safety.
