ARGUMENT ENDS WITH ONY-AREA MAN RUN OVER

• A 50-year-old Silver Creek man was arrested after he allegedly intentional ran over an individual at a residence he was visiting at the 400 block of Gore Road in Onalaska  last night. It began with an argument between the resident and the visitor, Brian S. Baimbridge, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s Cmdr. Steve Aust said a deputy responding about 8:45 p.m. was told the 51-year-old resident came at Baimbridge with a stick and Baimbridge sped down the driveway, turned around and drove back toward the man. The victim wasn’t able to get out of the way of the Land Rover, according Aust. He was taken to Providence Centralia Hospital and “remarkably” escaped with only scrapes, Aust said. Baimbridge  was booked into the Lewis County Jail for first-degree assault, according to the sheriff’s office.

FIREARM THEFT

• Someone forcibly entered a residence on the 2600 block of Graf Road outside Centralia overt the weekend and stole a 38 caliber revolver and miscellaneous coins, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. A deputy called to the home was told it happened sometime between noon on Friday and 8 a.m. on Saturday, according to the sheriff’s office. The loss is estimated at $500.

THEFT FROM BOAT

• A deputy was called to Taidnapam Park south of Glenoma on Saturday after the discovery more than $4,000 worth of fishing gear was stolen off a boat. Missing is a Lowrance brand fish finder and five Denali fishing rods, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. It happened between 8 p.m. on Friday and 4 o’clock the following morning, Cmdr. Steve Aust said.

MORE THEFT

• A portable wheelchair ramp and two ladders were stolen fro property on the 600 block of Evans Road near Toledo. A deputy called yesterday was told it happened sometime sine Thursday evening, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The loss is nearly $2,000, according to the sheriff’s office.

• A White brand gray with burgundy trim riding lawn mower was reported missing from the 100 block of Mineral Creek Road on Friday afternoon, the Lewis County Sheriff’s office reported this morning. It had no motor, according to the sheriff’s office. It was taken sometime after 5 p.m. on Thursday, Cmdr. Steve Aust said.

GENERAL UNRULINESS

• A 41-year-old Centralia man was arrested about 4:30 a.m. today after he allegedly pushed a hospital staff member who was attempting to discharge him, according to police Officers called to Providence Centralia Hospital on the 900 block of South Schueber Road booked Trygve J. Nelson into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree assault, according to the Centralia Police Department. Nelson had been cited by police earlier for numerous alleged offenses after he was contacted by an officer on the 1300 block of North Pearl Street on his scooter and became aggressive and refused to cooperate, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Jeffrey D. Jacob, 49, of Chehalis, was arrested for disorderly conduct at the Twin City Town Center after an incident an officer termed “road rage.” Police called about 3:45 p.m. on Friday to the 1400 block of Louisiana Avenue  were told Jacob’s vehicle struck the rear of another vehicle which had stopped at  stop sign and he began yelling, screaming and honking his horn and frightening the other driver, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• A 30-year-old Idaho man was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for disorderly conduct after police were called on Saturday afternoon to Stan Hedwall Park on Rice Road. An officer was told a man at the swimming hole asked Allan M. Carroll to please ask his children to stop cussing at the other children and Carroll let loose with a barrage of abusive language, telling the other man he should leave the area, according to the Chehalis Police Department. The first man felt threatened, Sgt. Gary WIlson said. “Hot weather and alcohol causes people to lose their minds sometimes,” Wilson said.

NUMEROUS RESPONSES FOR ANIMALS INSIDE HOT CARS

• Chehalis police were called at least five times about dogs left in hot vehicles in parking lots over the weekend. No citations were issued as none of the animals was in distress when officers arrived, but each was “educated” about the dangers of their actions, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

CHILD AIRLIFTED WITH INJURIES FROM TV

• A 5-year-old boy was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after an apparent accident in a home on the 300 block of South Street in Centralia yesterday. Firefighters called just before 8 a.m. learned the child may have pulled on old-fashioned television onto himself, according to Riverside Fire Authority.

WRECKS

• A motorcyclist escaped serious injury when he struck a deer on U.S. Highway 12 near Ethel yesterday afternoon. Firefighters called to milepost 71 said the victim suffered some “road rash” but he got up and declined a trip to the hospital. The deer wasn’t so lucky, according to Lewis County Fire District 8.

• Two people were hospitalized after a single-vehicle wreck on Saturday in which their car ran off state Route 7 north of Morton and struck a sign. Troopers called just before noon to the scene about five miles north of Morton are investigating the collision, according to the Washington State Patrol. The driver, Terry A. Stapleton, 49, of Roy, was reportedly uninjured. His 1996 Ford Taurus was totaled, according to the state patrol. Transported to Morton General Hospital were passengers Henry A. Sadowski, 26, of Roy, and Marina M. Stapleton, 19, of Puyallup, the state patrol reported.

ATTEMPTED ARSON SUSPECTED IN CHEHALIS BREAK-IN

• Chehalis police are looking for information from the public regarding a burglary in mid June in which appears to have included an attempted arson. Officers called about 6:25 a.m. on June 15 to a residence on the 100 block of Southwest Ninth Street smelled gasoline and found matches, maybe somebody trying to cover their tracks, detective Sgt. Gary Wilson said  today. Nothing was actually ignited, Wilson said. A window had been broken out and missing were two televisions, one of which was a Panasonic 46-inch plasma TV, according to the Chehalis Police Department. The loss is estimated at $2,000. Lewis County Crime Stoppers is seeking tips. Crime Stoppers pays up to $1,000 for information leading to the clearance of crimes. Anonymous calls can be made to 1-800-748-6422.
