A 19-year-old lifeguard from the Great Wolf Lodge is jailed, accused of raping a 14-year-old guest of the Grand Mound hotel and indoor water park.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office says Alex Eduardo Salazar befriended the girl and she left willingly with him yesterday when his shift ended. The assault occurred in Salazar’s car on a nearby roadside, according to the sheriff’s office.
He then dropped the teen back off to the establishment where she informed her family of what occurred, according to Lt. Greg Elwin.
Deputies arrested Salazar yesterday afternoon at Rochester High School where he is a senior, Elwin said. He lives in the Grand Mound-Centralia area.
The victim sustained minor injuries, according to Elwin.
Great Wolf management is cooperating with investigators and reviewing their protocols, he stated in a news release.
Detectives are seeking the public’s help in identifying any other potential victims.
Elwin said Salazar was initially booked for rape of a child third-degree but at his probable cause hearing was ordered held also on second-degree rape.

Even if she presented him with a signed affidavit of proof she was over 16 and actually isn’t he can be charged with statuatory rape. Also we do not know all of the details because they are not released to the media right away to protect the victims. Before anyone starts to defend the suspect or condemn the victim wait for all of the facts to be brought out when court papers are filed. This could be consensual between them but due to her age it’s rape or he could have used violence to force himself on her. Wait for the facts and then decide.

She may be a young 14 or she may even be shy, Low self esteem which a lot of teens have. This man who is 19 may have showed her some needed and wanted attention. When I was 14 I knew what I doing and I was just lucky I didn’t get rape. Now I know some old 14 and young 14s but no matter what this man swooped right in and took advantage of her.
Why would he drop her off like nothing happen..stupidity or he felt she wouldn’t tell cause he thought she liked him, she may have went along with it because she was scared, we don’t know if she was from this area or out of state, ….so a lot of things we don’t know. He needs to be charged. No matter what , cause more than likely will say but but but she said she was 18′ and she wanted it…..so time will tell.

It will not matter if it was consensual as she isn’t the age of consent, and therefore unable to legally consent! In Washington State on must be 16 to consent to a sexual act, however with that said I still don’t think the police would pursue to this extent if there wasn’t some kind of evidence of force.
I am not defending this guy nor this girl for I was not there I don’t know what happened. I will say when I was younger I did lie about my age often. It was easy to do and guys believed me because I didn’t look my age. I will also say I never slept with any of them I just liked hanging out with the older crowds.
Anyways I think if this were a case where she lied about her age and she willingly had sex with him but then her parents found out she took off so she lied about it. I don’t think he should be convicted of rape.
Now that being said I think that if he knew her age and it was still willing yes he should have the lowest thing.

The act of having sex, and the act of forcing sex are two different things. Her age alone makes any consent given null and void. He IS old enough to know the difference between consensual sex between two consenting adults, and sex with a minor.
Her parents? Good question. Who knows why they did not notice that their 14 year old child was missing from their care. That still does not justify his act of rape.
He is accused of what HE did wrong. He was the adult in the situation, he had the obligation to tell the 14 year old girl, that she was too young. He had the obligation to not allow her in his car, he had the obligation to keep his penis in his shorts. He failed to do any of those, so he is accused of committing the act of rape in the 2nd degree. He is at fault for his actions. He should take responsibility for them.
