A Centralia mother was arrested this afternoon for not only growing marijuana but also for allowing her small child to smoke it from a bong, according to police.
The little boy, who is just shy of 2 years old, and his 5-year-old brother were taken into the custody of Child Protective Services, according to police.
Members of the Centralia Police Department Anti Crime Team were tipped off they might find marijuana plants at the home on the 1400 block of Delaware Avenue in north Centralia and served a search warrant about 2:25 p.m. today, according to Officer John Panco.
Inside the house, they discovered 40 plants, which they seized, along with firearms, according to police.
While there, officers were informed Rachelle L. Braaten, 24, had been allowing the little one to literally inhale marijuana out of a bong, Panco said.
Braaten and Tyler J. Lee, 25, were arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for manufacture of marijuana, according to the Centralia Police Department.
Braaten was additionally booked for delivery of a controlled substance to a minor. Lee was additionally booked for three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm.

I agree with Disgusted (The Original). What is going to happen when there are more people living off the system then people who actually try to make a living going to work everyday? I get tired of people saying there are not any jobs out there. Oh, there are jobs might not be what you really want to do but a job is a job and the bills need to be paid and these people need to be responsible for their actions. Not expect the working person to pay for them. Something needs to be done. To many of these people keep having kids. Not against anyone having kids, but if you do you better be able to financially take care of them, not the working people.
Also, President and Politicians need to be held accountable. I think if nothing can get done maybe we the people (working people)should stop paying them till something does get accomplished. Enough of the the kick backs, if so and so is elected (an example).

Whom/Concern – I agree to an extent. I think that the judgment of the parents is called in to question regarding the age of the child.
I thought the same thing about the beer; however, comparing apples to apples wouldn’t sharing a cigarette be more similar than sharing a beer? Smoke inhalation, etc.
Also, it is not illegal to allow your children to drink, while in your own home and with parent supervision. If we sit down at an ethnic meal of Italian spaghetti and red wine and the whole family partakes, that if fine. It’s supplying the beer to your teen and all their friends that comes into question. However, it is still illegal to smoke a bong with your child, at any minor age.
With that being said, I do believe it to be more the judgment, or lack thereof, of the parent to allow a toddler to partake in such things. Just from a practical point of view, if one cannot tell their toddler, “No”, what will happen to that child when they are older and not used to hearing no? Or the proverbial hot stove or candle? No, honey, don’t touch! No honey, this is mommy’s medicine, not to be shared. No honey, we don’t run in the house with scissors. No honey, we don’t hit sister because she didn’t share her ice cream with you. See where this is going? No, you cannot drive your car with your friends in it, while under 21. No, you cannot take candy from the store without paying for it. Although, I must admit, if the judges in this county don’t change, the law-breaker will just get a gentle “no-no, we don’t do that here. Please don’t do it again.” Sad.

As OLJ said, most people should not be allowed to have children. They can test the baby in this case to see if he was really smoking pot and if he was, this dumb bitch doesn’t even deserve to have pets, let alone defenseless children. AND she should be charged with welfare fraud for the unreported income she was earning while drawing benefits!
Now, you might be thinking, “How do you know they are on welfare?” Because they are a “type” of person and can almost always be identified by the way they conduct themselves . . . They are the type that leave their defensless kids with their dick-of-the-month who just happens to be a child molesting monster, the type that allow a toddler access to any kind of drug, the type that grow weed with two small children in the home, the type that go out starting bar fights and then play the victim when they get deservedly stabbed.
Here’s a fun fact that will really get some of you riled up. Not because it’s true, but because I dared to say it aloud. It’s a proven fact that poor people and stupid people tend to have more offspring. So the dumber, lazier section of the populace is infesting the planet with more people with these same traits inbred into them, along with the bad examples these same parents and grandparents set for them to follow.
Meanwhile, the working stiffs who support these human leeches get stuck with more and more taxes. Think about this: How can you argue the fact that, if this continues, there is NO hope for this country. Once the majority is on welfare or SSI, who is going to support all of these people? The answer is: nobody. Our economy is about to collapse and the takers that contribute nothing will be sceaming the loudest when shit hits the fan and their free rides come to an end.
If you can’t afford to pay all of the expenses involved in having a child on your own (no monthly cash allottment, no medical card giving you free benefits, no food stamps, no section 8 or other housing assistance, no WIC, no free car seats and other BS handouts they give these losers, etc.) then you can’t afford one. Period. For those that have more than one under these circumstances, like the moron in this story, what the fuck is wrong with you?
If you don’t work, or barely work, YOU are not providing for your family and you have no business having kids. If this country would crack down on this crap and start penalizing these lowlifes for having multiple kids in poverty, moving in some random guy who ends up harming your kids, manufacturing, selling and using drugs in the same home in which children are being raised – let alone getting a kid high – we’d all be living a lot better than we are now.

Mr. Lee has a carry permit. the police say they were informed while they were their. tell it like it is they went through there cell phones and saw a video of the young man with his mouth on a bong correct me if i am wrong its not possible to smell through a vedio . it could be tobacco tea. it might look like a duck walk like a duck that doesnt mean it smokes like a duck.
I really hope that there is more to this story. Were there previous charges on the couple that they could not have firearms? If not, then while were they “unlawfully” possessed? Because of the pot? Is it illegal to have pot and firearms? Or was this a case of the police being able to confiscate weapons and make up charges? I do not agree with these people letting their small children partake of the bong with them, but if that is their only charge, why take the guns, and if it was bad enough to do, why not charge with child endangerment?
