Sharyn’s Sirens: Daily police and fire roundup

CHEHALIS ESPRESSO STAND HIT BY THIEF, AGAIN

• The owner of Ooh La Latte coffee stand on the 1500 block of Bishop Road in Chehalis arrived to work early this morning to find someone had burglarized her business again. They broke a sliding window and made off with $600 cash which had been hidden, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. It is believed to have occurred sometime after 5 p.m. yesterday and before 4 o’clock this morning, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said. Last Wednesday morning, someone broke in and stole the cash drawer, with about $200, according to Brown.

VEHICLE VERSUS WHEELCHAIR

• A man in a wheelchair struck in a crosswalk by a car yesterday afternoon by Safeway in Chehalis suffered only minor injuries but was taken to Providence Centralia Hospital, according to the Chehalis Police Department. It happened about 5 p.m., it was dark and the driver couldn’t see him, Sgt. Brian Hickey said. The victim is an older gentleman who lives in the area, according to Hickey. “It sounds like he is going to be okay,” Hickey said this morning.

JEWELRY MISSING

• Centralia police were called about 5:40 p.m. yesterday to a home on the 2500 block of Sharon Street where a ring was missing after a houseguest had been staying there. The case is under investigation, according to the Centralia Police Department.

VANDALISM

• Police were called to the 1200 block of North Tower Avenue in Centralia yesterday morning where someone had broken a window out of a car overnight.

WRECKS

• A 20-year-old Centralia woman was hospitalized after she wrecked her car on Friday afternoon at the 2600 block of Highway 603 north of Winlock, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reported this morning. A deputy responding about 2:20 p.m. was told the Oldsmobile Cutlass hydroplaned and left the road, according to the sheriff’s office. An approximately 3-month-old baby in a car seat was not injured but the woman complained of neck and back pain, Chief Civil Deputy Stacy Brown said.

• One person was hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision at the top of the southbound Interstate 5 exit on state Route 505 near Winlock yesterday afternoon. Aid called just before 3 p.m. found heavy front end damage to a passenger car and its driver – an older gentleman – with suspected chest injuries, according to Lewis County Fire District 15. His passenger and the driver of a pickup truck were treated at the scene, Assistant Chief Kevin Anderson said. “Visibility in that area sometimes tends to be a little obscured for some folks,” Anderson said, referring to cars that sit lower. At first firefighters thought the patient might need to be airlifted to a regional trauma center but then decided his injuries were less serious, so he was taken to Providence Centralia Hospital, Anderson said.

Old long Johnson, youre as inaccurate and indiscriminate as your name. Keep blogging though, I’m sure you and Low pat each other on the back. Sharyn, your blog has definitely been drug into the mud.

  2. OldLongJohnson says:

“I’m sure the person driving the vehicle feels terrible.”

So, no repercussions like a loss of license due to blind idiocy because the person “feels bad”.

That’s the dumbest reason to turn a blind eye to vehicular manslaughter.

    Good ol’ Boy System.

    Lewis County.

  3. TK says:

To whom it may concern …. The man hit by the car was on a scooter and his name was George. He was 94 years old and suffered a broken ankle and head trauma. He died yesterday. He was a spunky man that came to Safeway everyday to visit and drink his coffee. He will be missed by all of us. Though I do not know the circumstances of the accident, I’m sure the person driving the vehicle feels terrible.

  4. Barbara says:

Okay, maybe I am the blind one but I don’t see anywhere in the story about the driver that hit the man in the wheelchair working for the county, not being arrested or ticketed. No where does it say anything about how law enforcement dealt with the driver – where are all these assumptions coming from?

And before anyone starts in on me, yes I have worked for the LCSO in a clerical position previously. I don’t believe I would get any special treatment beyond the fact that if I were pulled over they would know me and be a little less on guard due to the level of trust I have earned. I would still be expected to have valid ID, insurance and registration. I now live and work in Thurston County (not for). I haven’t been pulled over in about 14 years, so its not about who I know, its about being smart and knowing where the speed traps are.

OLJ is pretty right on when it comes to people who work in law or courts for Lewis County. There is a good ole boys club and I know of cops that have admitted to being the biggest mafia and look out for their own. I know a woman that works with law enforcement and the courts and she is a straight up deviant and breaks the law multiple times and gets away with it. I guess covering up their own is easier than exposing their incompetent work force.

  6. OldLongJohnson says:

“Wow… are the assumptions running wild… ” WRONG!!!

“because he couldnt see him he must be blind.”

No, because he couldn’t see a DISABLED person IN FRONT of hit car he’s either blind or NEGLIGENT. ”

“Because he is (either) blind (or negligent) he must work for the courts.”

No, wrong again. The fact he didn’t get a ticket for running down an old person in a wheelchair means he’s in the “good ol’ boy network”.

“And because he works for the courts he wont be charged.”

People who work for the law and courts in Lewis County get away with MURDER. So yeah, running over a disabled man in a wheelchair is no big deal to these criminal thugs.

“And in any other county he would have been charged with something that is a legal standard and not even a crime.”

Since when is running over a disabled person in a wheel chair NOT a crime?

    ONLY in Lewis County!!!

A second break-in at the Bikini espresso place, and this time the made off with money that had been hidden? Anyone else thinking ‘Inside Job’ here?

  8. The Dirty Cop Enforcer says:

VEHICLE VERSUS WHEELCHAIR Yes,” Older Gentlemen” don’t go to jail in Lewis County. Don’t you know that OLJ? I’ve been telling everyone theres a Good Ole Boy Net Work, Seems the truth is starting to show it’s ugly head.

  9. Mendez says:

Wow… are the assumptions running wild… because he couldnt see him he must be blind. Because he is blind he must work for the courts. And because he works for the courts he wont be charged. And in any other county he would have been charged with something that is a legal standard and not even a crime.

Nice rant. Its good to hear though that the elderly man will likely be ok.

  10. sunshinegirl says:

Why in the world would you leave money in a little business like that twice? It is kind of deserted there after dark and a coffee kiosk would be a easy target. Hope they learn their lesson this time. Jeez!

Solution Take the Money out of the store, Next contact me, I will drill holes into your floor and install a 100$ safe into your facility. This will give the alarm company time to respond to the break in… Don’t depend on Law Enforcement, depend on your equipment!

“it was dark and the driver couldn’t see him, Sgt. Brian Hickey said.”

Wow! They give licenses to blind people.

Let me guess, the blind idiot who can’t see another human being in front of them works for the courts, so there won’t be any charges.

    Nice.

Sounds like the good-ole-boy network is alive and well.

You know, in every other city in the United States, the driver would have been cited for gross negligence. But, not in Lewis County.

    Hip hip hooray!!!
