Sharyn’s Sirens: Daily police and fire roundup

COMPLAINT: WOMAN ‘TALKING WITH HER BUTT CHEEKS’

• Police were called to Wal-Mart yesterday morning to a complaint a customer refused to leave, pulled her pants down and was “talking with her butt cheeks.” An officer who responded to the 10 a.m. call to Northwest Louisiana Avenue said the woman who was in her 30s denied exposing herself. She was “trespassed” meaning she was told she may not return to the store, according to the Chehalis Police Department. “We don’t know what she was trying to do,” Sgt. Brian Hickey said.

ESTIMATED $10,000 WORTH OF GEAR MISSING FROM GARAGE

• Someone stole two sets of diving equipment and a racing bicycle from the 900 block of South Silver Street in Centralia, according to police. An officer called about 9:10 a.m. yesterday was told a lock had been cut off the garage. The loss is estimated at about $10,000, according to the Centralia Police Department.

TRUCK TAKEN IN CENTRALIA

• A deputy was called yesterday morning to the theft of a maroon 1999 Ford Ranger from a driveway on the 400 block of South Street in Centralia. The vehicle went missing sometime between 9 p.m. on Monday and 8 a.m. yesterday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

INTRUDER FLEES SHOP BUILDING

• Centralia police were called at 8:48 p.m. yesterday to an interrupted burglary to a shop building on the 2400 block of Eureka Avenue. The victim observed a male wearing a dark-colored Oregon Ducks shirt, gray sweat pants and black with orange shoes running from the building, according to the Centralia Police Department. Nothing was immediately reported as missing, according to police.

PURSE STOLEN FROM PARKED VEHICLE

• A woman who parked her car at Schaeffer Park north of Centralia while she walked her dog last night returned to find a window broken out and her purse missing. A deputy called about 8:45 p.m. to the parking lot on the 800 block of state Route 507 canvassed the area but found no suspect, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The loss of the handbag, cash and credit cards is about $450, according to the sheriff’s office.

Falsetto….The “Go To” man for “Fine Fictional Facts”!

“One such tactic was to lower the price of an item they carried to take away the business of a local specialty store. Then, once that mom and pop operation was forced to go out of business, Wal-Mart raised the prices even HIGHER than you would have gotten it for locally”

You are so full of CRAP! Just in case you didnt notice, there are still local small business’s around. And shopping with the good old home town stores is a beautiful thing in many ways. But not for those who live on very small incomes. I spend my money at our local business’s, but I shop the sale items only. Then I go to Wal Mart and get everything else. I do this because the local stores non sale items do not compete with Wal Marts every day prices! If I dont do my shopping that way, I just plain dont make it pay day to pay day! And thats a fact jack. I wish it weren’t.
So anyhow, where did you get the facts for your statement above? You pluck your facts right outa the sky if you have to, just so you can argue! You argue with EVERYTHING!
I hope you live by yourself, cause if you dont I pity your spouse! Or even a nearby neighbor! HA, too bad your not my neighbor!

@ MorningCoffee, some people will find anything they can to whine and cry about, and if you give them a viable solution (you did… the “Shop Local” event), they get all huffy and whine some more. It was kinda like when those “occupy” idiots were crying about how Wal-Mart was destroying small businesses, but when they needed supplies, they went to…. you guessed it… Wal-Mart.

And yes, sometimes you even have the strange people shopping at Safeway, too.

  3. Falsetto says:

    “then shut up already.”

I would rather not even be within a mile radius of your and your name-calling bully friends.

But thanks for the strange offer I guess.

  4. MorningCoffee says:

Falsetto -put your money where your mouth is and show your undying support for local business by attending the SHOP LOCAL SATURDAY event:

    http://www.cityofcentralia.com/Calendar.asp?View=EVENT&EventID=575

If you choose not to spend big at this event, then shut up already about big box stores.

  5. Falsetto says:

“honest people” don’t sit back and do absolutely nothing while Wal-Mart destroys nearly every local family-operated store in the country.

You people who defend Wal-Mart are completely ignorant of reality or you work there and have some kind of obligation to say “nice things” about them so you can be promoted.

There is nothing legit about a store that sucks up taxpayer money making call after call to police over petty shit.

YOu guys obviously have no repect for police if you think they have nothing better to do than to respond to Wal-Mart’s b.s. all the time.

And you’re uneducated if you think “power of attorney” can be used unlawfully without repercussions. Are we to believe that your ‘friend’ got burned by signing a power of attorney and had no legal recourse? if so, you’re a f’n liar.

You guys believe it’s perfectly okay for corporations to destory America piece by piece but you think it’s wrong for people to fight back.

Pointing that out does not make a ‘target’ for attack and bullying. YOu poeople seriously need to learn how to be accepting of people with different points of view instead of attacking them.

  6. BobbyinLC says:

I wonder if that video clip will make the people of Wal-Mart

  7. George says:

@ saysme, the number of “caregivers” (and that is using the term loosely) who abuse “the system” is a pretty small number, yet there are far too many of them who do just that. I know personally a few people who have been taken for a ride, all because they signed a paper called “Power Of Attorney”.

Even a “Limited” PoA can be used against someone, and beyond the scope if it’s “limits”.

As for the ranting about WalMart being nothing but a crime magnet, well, that’s just the babbling of someone who probably got busted there themselves. WalMart is like any other big box store; there is crime there, no matter what we do. It would be just the same if there was something like a Best Buy there, or a Fred Meyer (notice how nobody ever whines about those two?).

  8. saysme says:

Giving Power of Attorney to a caregiver of anyone, opens a whole ball of wax. While it sounds like a great idea, it really isn’t. It cost money to hire an attorney, leaves the door wide open for a caregiver to take advantage and use the PoA for other purposes. Not everyone abuses the system. In all walks of life there are rotten apples in the barrel. Those that complain about criminals shopping at Wal-Mart, should stay away and leave us honest folks alone.

  9. Falsetto says:

“Yelling that it’s broken without a reasonable option for change doesn’t fix anything”

First off, I didn’t ‘yell’ anything.

Secondly, since you haven’t been paying attention, my “reasonable option” would be to require a name on the cards and verification of user. Food isn’t alcohol and to compare the two is just dysfuctional.

There’s no reason an elderly person wouldn’t be able to assign their legal caregiver purchasing power such as in a “power of attorney” sort of thing.

But to insist that things must stay the same while accusing me of tyring to hurt elderly people by not adding any solutions is counter productive.

Could you PLEASE direct your comments towards someone else for a change. Or better yet, direct them at the topic of discussion.

  10. Huh? says:

@Falsetto: “It would be a simple matter to just assign names to the EBT cards and then require valid I.D. to spend the food stamp money.”

    Two thoughts –
    1) valid ID seems to work good for alcohol purchases; and
    2) There are a lot of senior and elderly people that have care givers do their shopping for them, and to provide proof of ID might be difficult for shut-ins.

I am against the food stamp abuse ($100+ in lobster and steak dinners, all candy purchases, etc) however I don’t have an answer on how to fix it. Yelling that it’s broken without a reasonable option for change doesn’t fix anything.

  11. Falsetto says:

Excellent point! It would be a simple matter to just assign names to the EBT cards and then require valid I.D. to spend the food stamp money.

But, guess who’s the biggest opponent of such cost-saving measures?

    You guessed it! It’s Wal-Mart.

When it comes to Washington State tax payers and food stamps, Wal-Mart likes things just the way they are. Don’t believe it? Then why do they spend so much money hiring lobbyists to bribe our legislators into doing nothing about it?

It seems to me that Wal-Mart doesn’t really care where the cash comes from, as long as it’s spend in THEIR store instead of being spent locally.

  12. I agree with Falsetto,
When I have gone there while in line I notice very offten that most of the people pay for their product with a Food Stamp card, and
who knows if it is even their own card. Here is a example: someone
gets their food stamp money for the month on a card, they need
cash to by cig, alcohol, etc. they then exchange foodstamp card example again $100.00 foodstamp for $50.00 cash from someone to by those much needed items listed above. It’s their kids that suffer from these kind of decisions/actions. So by saying this they don’t give a “you know what”, what things cost because they didnt work to earn that card. Walmart does cater to the “weak minded”
Not to say that everyone on food stamps are weak minded. There
are a few people who appreciate the help while they get back
on their feet. I am talking about the people that live on food
stamps and think the world owes them.

  13. Huh? says:

DCE, I do agree with you about the video camera at Walmart. My first thought too.

  14. Talking With Her Butt Checks……. The woman Denies exposing herself. If I remember right, Wal-Mart is Video Camera Central, yet no video of the woman talking with her Butt Cheeks. How come?. I’m sure everyone will get off topic and attack me for my comment, call me a Wacko and even say I’m on Welfare and if I’m lucky someone will say I own a Bar…….But remember this, all I said is where is the Video?

  15. Falsetto says:

“Choose a better forum to rant about “big box stores”.”

What would be a better forum to discuss big box stores like Wal-Mart than a blog that posts the crime that happens there?

Where do you suggest we go to laugh at and criticize Wal-Mart?

The fact is, Wal-Mart IS responsible for the crime that happens IN THEIR STORE because they make it EASY for people to commit crimes there.

Do you really think that the police department has nothing better to do than to constantly respond to Wal-Mart’s b.s. complaints about theft 24/7?

If Wal-Mart wanted to decrease crime, they would decrease the size of their stores and HIRE MORE PEOPLE.

But then they wouldn’t be able to get every town to grab their ankles at the slightest whim.

  16. Daphne says:

Pretty sure Wal-mart is not responsible for the woman using her butt cheeks to speak. And, Lewis county was full of criminals long before Walmart came around. Imagine the amount of “week minded” people with out jobs if Walmart wasn’t there….don’t shop there if you don’t want but, refering to the people who do as weak minded is very close minded!!
This article is about a woman who is totally off her rocker not a “big box” store!! Choose a better forum to rant about “big box stores”.

  17. dalton says:

i agree. i hadnt shopped at wal-mart for four years. my choice} when i did finally go the prices were shocking to me and no longer low. i always knew this would happen after running the mom an pops down…. and the prices will continue to rise…. half the people wont even notice it…… they do cater to the weak minded..

  18. Falsetto says:

“COMPLAINT: WOMAN ‘TALKING WITH HER BUTT CHEEKS’”

    Typical Wal-Mart fare.

This is what you get when you choose low prices over quality local goods and services. Just because your ‘boo’ from high school works there, doesn’t mean it’s a local operation. Far from it.

In fact, Wal-Mart is the go-to store for nearly every criminal within a 20 mile radius. Wal-Mart is a literal felon-magnet with all the bells and whistles.

Studies have shown that it’s 70% easier to get away with crime such as theft and assault in a big box store than it is in a small locally-owned store.

It’s insane that anybody would actually support Wal-Mart after they have single-handedly destroyed nearly every mom and pop operation from east to west since 1990.

Yeah, you can claim it’s ‘free-market’, but it’s not. There is nothing fair about bullying your competition out of business. One such tactic was to lower the price of an item they carried to take away the business of a local specialty store. Then, once that mom and pop operation was forced to go out of business, Wal-Mart raised the prices even HIGHER than you would have gotten it for locally.

That is not ‘free-market’ capitalism. That is essentially bully-coporatism.
