  1. GuiltyBystander says:

Stealing is stealing, Falsetto, regardless of your personal opinion of WalMart (where nobody is forced to shop, BTW…that’s our choice to make, not yours). Your moral relativism is a lot more troubling than the existence of a store.

BTW, if a corporation isn’t run by people, who runs it? Computers with minds of their own? Sheesh.

  2. George says:

Falsetto, what is “shoplifting”? It is “The action of stealing goods from a shop.”

Now, what is “stealing”? It is the action of the verb to “steal.” (following me here?) “Steal” means “To illegally, or without the owner’s permission, take possession of something by surreptitiously taking or carrying it away.”

“Illegal” means “Contrary to or forbidden by law, especially criminal law.”

Now, can you show me in there where it says “It is illegal to shoplift, unless it is from Walmart”? No, you can’t. It is NEVER OK to steal, as it is AGAINST THE LAW. Encouraging people to steal from Walmart is advocating that people break the laws. That in itself is a crime as well.

Theft, no matter who it is from, is a crime. The only reason the folks on Wall Street aren’t locked up is because the actions that they are doing, while they might not be ethical, are not illegal. And there is no law that says you have to be ethical in your actions. Maybe common decency would dictate that you be so, but that isn’t the topic here.

  3. Falsetto says:

“It IS about someone being accused of shoplifting, and THAT is WRONG, no matter who you steal from. So, to counter your baseless comment, I am NOT generalizing, but stating the obvious truth: that people need to be held accountable for their actions, no matter who it is or who their alleged crime is against.”

    No George, YOU’RE WRONG.

It’s OKAY TO STEAL. Look at Wall-Street for f’s sake!!! Are they held accountable? HELL NO!!!! so there IS an argument to be made here.

According to you it’s WRONG for a poor person to steal from a BILLION dollar company, but it’s perfectly FINE for a billion dollar company to rape small town america.

That’s a really f’d up way of seeing things George. You must live in Lewis County to be that delusional.

  4. Political Sign Set On Fire. Looks like the Political race for office is really heating up.

  5. Falsetto says:

    @ Da Guru:

Do YOU have any idea how much tax revenue and PROFIT that stayed local was lost due to Wal-Mart moving in?

A LOT MORE than what Chehalis gets now.

Pitiful you people would defend a corporation that basically rapes not only you, but poor chinese children working in sweatshops.

    Shame on you all.

  6. Falsetto says:

    OK george and morning coffee:

It’s perfectly okay in YOUR world to stand by and do NOTHING while a multi-national corporations rapes the small towns in America and puts MILLIONS of Americans out of work and not say anything.

But in the REAL world, most people don’t sit ildy by and remain silent while the corrupt corporations bring every down to a third-world standard of living.

It’s perfectly alright with you and the name-calling morning coffee to just sit there and do nothing while every one else suffers.

It’s all B.S. You two bullies just can’t see the forest for the trees. People like D.C.E. are right about you guys, you’re so ignorant of reality that you create an alternate one that fits in with your FOX News world-views.

And no, corporations are NOT people.

It’s okay to steal from Wal-Mart because they stole almost ALL of the locally owned business from sea to shining sea.

  7. DaGuru says:

Does anyone realize how much money Wal Mart brings to the City of Chehalis in the way of taxes? They may not be a local business, but they employ a lot of people and currently owe nearly $60,000 in property taxes. I understand the frustration, but I mean there are good things about Wal Mart.

Also, I saw a sirens entry a few months back in the Chronicle about someone who was arrested for stealing a $27 pair of jeans. I would say that’s less worth it than the $230 theft LOL

  8. MorningCoffee says:

Falsetto, you’re a dingbat. And I mean that in the most fun-loving way. Riiiiiight. Let’s shut down all Walmart stores, the crime rate will most assuredly go down. I’m certain someone will then step up to give all those people jobs. There IS much wrong with the Walmart model. I know Walmart is accused of unfair labor practices and not giving benefits… but I’d rather have A job, than none at all. And, no, I don’t work for Walmart. But not to worry, Obama is taking out of all our pockets to give some back to those whom he deems worthy. And with his ingenius plan, more businesses are planning to cut hours to employe all part=time positions, in order to avoid having to provide healthcare. Funny how one thing leads to another, and another, and another….

  9. George says:

Apparently, you don’t know what runs corporations: People. Who benefits from the corporations? People. Who does the corporations employ? People. Who has to take pay cuts to cover the cost of shoplifters? People. Who has to deal with increased prices for merchandise to cover the costs of shoplifters? People.

This whole bit, however, isn’t about Walmart and their perceived image in the community. It IS about someone being accused of shoplifting, and THAT is WRONG, no matter who you steal from. So, to counter your baseless comment, I am NOT generalizing, but stating the obvious truth: that people need to be held accountable for their actions, no matter who it is or who their alleged crime is against.

And FYI, criminals increase crime, not Walmart.

  10. Falsetto says:

    And F.Y.I.

Having a Wal-Mart store in your town increases crime rates. It’s a FACT.

  11. Falsetto says:

No George, you’re generalizing again. It’s wrong to steal from people, it’s perfectly FINE to steal from a corporation, especially one that has done so much damage to local business nationwide.

But hey, defend Wal-Mart all you want. We all know where you guys shop. The pictures at http://www.peopleofwalmart.com tell the whole story.

    Enjoy your Wal-Mart crime magnet.

  12. George says:

Wow. Just wow. Let’s make sure we put all the blame on Walmart, and not hold anyone accountable for anything they do, including shoplifting.

  13. BahlsDeep says:

    Oh Falsetto,

What the article doesn’t say is that by using the emergency exit to leave the premis, this dude committed a felony. Theft with Extinuating Circumstances. Look it up. So his $230.00 misdemeanor theft just added prison time to his obviously unoccupied time management.

  14. Letter To Nobody says:

Having or not having a Walmart doesn’t matter. Crimes happen every day in the good ol LC. Just ask your drug dealer down the street! Or maybe the hoodlum on the street tagging someone’s property. Or the car thief who is breaking your window to get at whatever you were stupid enough to leave in your car! Yup!! It’s all Walmarts fault. Hello police? Yes, someone robbed my house while I was on vacation. Police, “do you have any suspects?” Caller “yes, it’s Walmart, I’m sure of it!” What a joke!!!

  15. local joe says:

The question might be, who’s hands where in a 12 year boys pockets?

  16. Falsetto says:

F*&K Wal-Mart. Just having a Wal-Mart in your town will raise the crime rate noticeably.

If you enjoy lots of drug deals, assaults, thefts, and other assorted criminal behavior, then you should have TWO Wal-Marts in your town.

No cameras outside the store to protect shoppers from being mugged, raped, or murdered.

Wal-Mart doesn’t give a crap, so why should anybody give a crap about them?

I say good job to that brave thief. At least he wasn’t stealing from a locally owned business or from grandmothers.

  17. Silent Night says:

If it follows him, it’s his own stupidity for shoplifting in the first place!

  18. Silent Night says:

If he stole it, than he should have to face whatever comes of that. By no means is theft an innocent thing. If it follows him, that’s his own fault!

  19. Huh? says:

Walmart – Taken was a backpack and stereo equipment valued at about $230. Wow, an arrest and record for $230 will follow him for the rest of his life.
