Read about the new meth: Much stronger and much less expensive …

By Sharyn  L. Decker
Lewis County Sirens news reporter

The (Everett) Herald published a story today about how exceptionally cheaper and extraordinarily more potent methamphetamine is being smuggled into U.S. markets from Mexico compared with five years ago.

And lots more of it.

Read the Associated Press news story about the changes that come in part with a new recipe that tuns out a clearer, glassier product.

The Associated Press writer quotes a DEA agent as calling the manufacturers “marketing geniuses” who are expanding their customer base by getting more people hooked.

  1. Falsetto says:

Food addiction is also a disease. Sugar is the gateway drug. Did you know that every junkie started out eating sugar as a child?

But, until we stop calling obesity “sassiness” and “hard to handle good looks” we will never be able to confront addiction, whether it be sex or heroin.

  2. ItsNotTheMeth says:

You guys are funny and so judgmental! Wow…did you know that 30% of all people who every put a cigarette in their mouths are still smoking themt today? Does tobacco taste good, or bad? Does it smell good, or bad? Does it make your health good, or bad? 🙂 We all know those answers – they teach that in kindy garten, right? So why does ANYone ever pick up a cigarette? And once they do, how could they POSSIBLY keep smoking the stuff?

It ain’t the cigarette – it’s the nicotine and its effect on the brain. Stronger in some folks than in others. Easier for some folks to quit, not so easy for others.

Now think about addiction … it is a disease that is described by the American Medical Association as “Primary, chronic, progressive and fatal”… it says nothing about the substance… isn’t that interesting?

It isn’t a disease of a substance, it is a disease of an organ of the body. The organ is the brain. Addictive substances include alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, opiates, cocaine, pills, and methampetamines.

Not all cigarette smokers can quit, but some can. Not all marijuana smokers will use meth, but almost all meth users have used marijuana.

It is a disease. It is progressive. No kind of addict is better than another (and that includes addicted to legal drugs like pills and alcohol). All addicts lose things…. jobs, girlfriends, children, houses, cars, friends… lives.

Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a cure that worked? That way the rest of us who don’t have it wouldn’t hurt our arms so much, patting ourselves on the back for not devleoping addiction.

WOW, NO COMMENTS FROM DCE ON THIS ONE?!? WEIRD! LOL

Grasshopper – congrats on your efforts to get clean.

  5. Yup says:

Grasshopper, thanks for your view. However, it seems that many people don’t want help, even when their families and friends are doing all that they can. It seems to be the rarer case that someone truly wants out.

  6. Grasshopper says:

Hello! I think so many of you out there have been distracted from the initual report or information that was in the artical. In reguards to the information the DEA has made public, I’d have to call bullshit on. Yes, Meth has destruprted many familys and lifes. Yes, your WHITE COLLAR works (Doctors, bankers, electricans, Judges,) and so on. The cost of meth has went up the purity has went down, yes I can honestly say my life wasn’t always peaches and cream. And it was becuase of my choise I had made. Yes, I am in recovery. Yes it is possible to turn your life around and do better for yourself and your family as long as you choice to do so. But before someone points their fingure and judge LEWIS Co. maybe they should take their heads out of the clouds and reliese its everywhere and in everyones family has 1 or more addicts. They need to find a solution for the problems. HELP people get on their feet not condem them guide them to see the can have everything they dreamed of and be respected if they choice to do so. thank you for your time

Falsetto…are you for real?? You sound like an idiot in your comments. Cartels MAKE meth smell like cat pee, because that is what Americans like?? Your assumption that every home with cats stinks of cat urine or feces is absolutely idiotic. I personally have 3 cats, who ALL go outside to pee and otherwise. Even people who have indoor cats have litter boxes…they don’t just go around peeing and crapping in the house!! How you relate this to why meth smells like cat pee, is ridiculous. Your ignorance is embarrassing.

  8. heart broken says:

sounds like you are all experienced in the drug world…hu….must be calling the kettle black YOU THINK

  9. heart broken says:

If you don’t like Lewis County and you feel the police do not do there job THEN MOVE SOMEWHERE ELSE…..Drugs are everywhere no matter where you go…geeee are you all that blind??????

  10. Wowweeecazoweeee says:

there is a whole lotta tweekin’ goin’ on . . . not to mention all the discarded alcohol containers along the roadsides . . . who wudda thunk it in small town USA?…..but unlike everyone would like to think—not all people abuse drugs (including pot) or alcohol—-there are some non-addicts out here in the sticks……

  11. MorningCoffee says:

Yes, I’m certain the cartels determined that cat urine is the #1 gawd-awful odor folks living in the US desire. Most certainly they should do more research and avail us to designer scented meth. I have a feeling you’re such an expert on this due to your own craving for the odor of cat urine. How else would one come up with such an intimate soliloquy. Have a very fine evening with your pillow and Barry Manilow. Don’t forget to cuddle your kitties.

  12. Falsetto says:

Wow, you sure do have it backwards.

What I said was, if you want to HOOK people on meth, make it smell like thier favorite pet’s urine in order to make people feel like they’re relaxing at home while snorting a line.

Obviously, people in the U.S. can’t get enough of it.

It must remind them of cozy nights spent snuggling up to a urine soaked pillow until the wee hours of the morning…..while barry manilow plays in the background.

  13. MorningCoffee says:

Aaaahahahaha… Falsetto’s headline: If you want rid the USA of meth seek out cat owners and treat them for cat urine addiction… by all means, all cat owners should be suspect of meth use. Extinguish the feline specie population in the USA. Voila! Problem solved. Aaaaahahahaha. Just when you think you’ve heard it all.

  14. Falsetto says:

Nope. The cartels that make the meth are EXPERTS at sales and advertising. They KNOW that Americans LOVE house cats and actually LIVE with them and allow the cats to pee and crap in the home where they have kids too.

You all act like smelling cat pee is some disgusting thing. If that’s the case, then why do so many people LIVE with cats? Cats are disgusting, filthy, diseased animals that serve no purpose, other than making you feel less lonely and depressed about your shitty lives.

Therefore, they created the meth so that it would smell like cat pee because they knew Americans would LOVE IT!!! Ding ding. If meth is SO HORRIBLE and smells like cat pee, then why is it so prevalent in Lewis County?

Either the cops suck at their job or you people just love the smell of cat pee.

  15. MorningCoffee says:

Falsetto.. and Tourist… you must both be smoking the stuff, hence the delirious thinking.

  16. saysme says:

Falsetto, you know this because? give me a break here, most people that own cats are responsible owners. Lewis county is a great place to live and not everyone here are tweekers, maybe less than other counties, “It takes one to know one”,

  17. Falsetto says:

Most Lewis County folk live with cats in their homes. Those cats pee and those people don’t seem to mind breathing in cat pee and living in it and eating around it.

Smoking something that smells like pee?

Sounds like something the fine folks of Lewis County would have no problem doing.

I would say most of ya’ll are probably tweekers too.

  18. Ridge says:

What part of active ingredient “Drano” do meth heads not understand?

  19. George says:

@ “Tourist”, you completely missed my point. My point is WHY would anyone even think of picking up something that they know is made with household chemicals (the kind you find under the kitchen sink, you know, with all those “poison” labels all over?), it smells like cat pee (or ammonia, or burning plastic), and go “gee, I think I’ll smoke this stuff that smells like cat pee”….

@ “Guilty”, I’m wondering that same thing. Apparently, everyone in Lewis county government, including the court system, is using meth. Just ask Tourist… he knows…

  20. GuiltyBystander says:

“I’m sure if there was zero money to be made by the Lewis County courts prosecuting people for meth, there would be less meth.”

So people use meth because the courts are making money by prosecuting them for it?

  21. Tourist says:

@George: if you want to know why people use meth, just ask Grant Childers, the ex Lewis County parole officer who did time in prison for using it.

I’m sure he would have a lot to say on the subject of why county officials use meth and become tweekers.

  22. Tourist says:

I’m sure if there was zero money to be made by the Lewis County courts prosecuting people for meth, there would be less meth.

    Think about it.

You can do everything you want to curtail the use/distribution of the stuff, but you’re just making it a more valuable commodity and increasing the likelihood of corruption.

Ignore it at your own risk.

  23. sunshinegirl says:

Bet they could find 250,000 tweakers right here in Lewis co. To bad they don’t round them up. Only problem is they are just like cockroaches only the cockroaches have better teeth. As for the people bringing it in from Mexico just kill them. They are cockroaches as well. Sorry about the rant but I live in East Lewis Co. and we are being over run with this blight and now it is like third generation. I want to go back to the days when all we had was a few potheads . They worked and bathed and did not spend their time breaking into my car, or stealing my plumbing. No body ever smoked a doobie and beat there child to death either. I would gladly trade every nasty Tweaker in my town for a pothead. If I have offended the potheads please forgive me. If I have offended any nasty Tweakers good !!!! If I have offended the cockroaches sorry.

  24. George says:

From the article: “It often has a smell people compare to ammonia, cat urine or even burning plastic.”

WHY would anyone even think about smoking, snorting, or shooting up something like that? WHY?
