A motorcycle rider was airlifted to a Seattle trauma hospital after a wreck in which he was tossed and flipped multiple times this afternoon on U.S. Highway 12 about eight miles east of Packwood, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Paul M. Kellar, 62, of Yakima, was eastbound when he drove off the road to the right and lost control, according to the state patrol.
A trooper called to the scene just before 4 p.m. noted Kellar suffered internal and head injuries as well as broken bones. He was flown to Harborview Medical Center.
Both Kellar and his bike landed in the dirt, according to the trooper.
His 2003 Honda 1800 sustained an estimated $3,000 damage, the state patrol reported. It was removed by family and friends.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.

How is Paul?
highway twelve has some dangerous potholes but is very fun as well on a bike best wishes to the man involved in this crash, even if speed was a factor all the dumbshits on here speed too so no one has any room to talk about speeding since everyone does it from time to time and if you say you font you are a liar. We need a speedier anonymous ‘Hi, my names dale and I like to do 55mph-175mph on hwy 12.’
i was in the group that paul was riding with sunday but did not see the accident . My thoughts and prayers for paul and his family. From what i did see it was clearly bad roads that caused this terrible accident
While it may not have been the intent of those who immediately blame speeding as the cause, it’s painful to read anything other than well wishes for Paul. Perhaps a letter to the editor or a separate article begging for road safety rather than blame placed in the comments of a story of a horrible accident would be a more appropriate place for complaints of bad driving, speed and busy roads.
Kristina, we’re thinking of you and your family. I’m sure it will all turn out okay. – The Hunts on the other side of the mountain.
Thank you George, again and again!
I do not know anyone involved in the accident, but when I read the “slow down people” comments I applied to general knowledge, not people pointing fingers to the accident victims. I also think of the motorcylces driving with all the speeding traffic – bikes are hard to spot at anytime, and speed just makes it worse.
And Jake, this forum is available for anyone to put their two cents in, any time, any story. Don’t like the option, don’t read the comments. And DON’T go to the Sirens Facebook page!
To this “jake dunaway” character leaving comments telling other people to get a life, you might want to take your own advice. “You must be a bored mother f&*%^#” (your words, not mine) if all you can do is go around telling other people that they are “a bored mother f&*%^#”. And if YOU are tired of reading what I write, then stop reading it.
To “llcoolk”, the people out there assume the worst simply because it happens all too often. There have been too many people on this road who have been injured, maimed, or killed… all because of excessive speed or alcohol (or both). Knowing that the accident was not caused by either is a relief, but the people STILL express their concern for the injured person. Or do you want people to keep those opinions to them selves too?
Taxes are paid to the state, county, city to have these roads safe. If we aren’t getting our moneys worth, we need to go after the people dropping the ball.
I dont know why all you people awalys assume the worst. I was riding with Paul, we were not speeding or drinking. If the county would take care of thier roads this terriable accident would not have happened. I saw the whole accident unfold. it was caused by a huge pot hole in the road which caused a death wobble in the front tire subsiquently forcing the motorcycle acrost the white line into loose gravel and off the road. my prayers are with Paul and his family.
Now for the rest of you know it alls, keep your opinions to your self. you wernt there and you dont know what happend.
Kristina not once in either of the comments that mentioned people need to slow down did they direct that to the crash victim. Its true, people need to slow down before they hurt themselves or someone else. So since you were there, what WAS the cause of the accident?
to this george character always leaving comments. why don’t you get a life. you must be a bored mother f&*%^# to be puttting your 2 cents on every subject that doesn’t even concern you. get a life punk!!!! people are tired of your shit.
Kristina, the comments about the drivers using highway 12 as their own personal race track, while they may or may not be directed at your family member, they are meant to beg others to slow the heck down in order to prevent more incidents like this from happening.
And the people genuinely care, and hope that your family member will be OK and will recover from this incident. They just hope that maybe this sort of thing will stop if the people would just slow down enough to smell the roses…
to all the hopes and prayers thank you but i would appreciate it if you can understand that if this happened to your family you wouldnt want all the negative again sorry that you folks in packwood have to go through all that every year
just to justify the actual accident to someone who actually was there in which i am his family. I dont understand how people can be so down right mean and cruel did you ever think that once there was an actual incident that caused his wreck huh? ie stroke, heart attack, ect i mean come on you can sit and say what you want but thats what i have to say and if you have any other comments please keep them to yourself and just leave a family alone with all the comments
I so agree with you sunshinegirl I live in Randle also..and the drivers think hwy12 is a race track!Guess they don’t think about those elk that pop out in front of you and won’t move outta the rd, I have been at Fisher’s grocery store , and seen people flying thru town, really and where are the east end sheriff’s ??? SLOW DOWN going thru Randle!!!
my prayers are with Mr. Kellar and his family
Sharon this has been a very busy weekend for the sound of sirens in the little town of Randle. I live right in the middle of town and I have heard more sirens the last two days then I have heard in months. I stand up on my balcony and watch the holiday traffic go through on highway 12, and all I can say is SLOW THE HELL down people!!! I lived in Packwood for 50 years and it is a nightmare during the flea marts on Memorial and Labor day. It is so bad that it takes 45 minutes to get from here to Packwood and it is only 17 miles. My neighbors have a scanner and it has been busy all day. My prayers to the family of the injured biker.
