Read about sex offender at 12, punished for life …

By Sharyn  L. Decker
Lewis County Sirens news reporter

KIRO FM radio ran a piece yesterday about a 12-year-old boy caught with a 10-year-old friend experimenting sexually in the boy’s bathroom at school in Lewis County.

The boy, whose full name is not used, is now 18 and talks about the impact on his life of having his name, face and crime listed on Lewis County’s sex offender website.

Reporter Rachel Belle says that happened because he was designated a level two sex offender, although now he is labeled a level one, which means he is no longer on the website.

Dey rapin erryone up in here!

  2. Momofthree says:

My niece was raped by her ex-step dad….he was being charge with 4 counts of 1degree rape of child plead guilty to 2 counts got out in 6months with time served all because he got approved for the Sosa the system sucks!
Commoncents……they have changed the age difference laws in the past 10 years so what Brittany was talking about is a big possibility cuz I also know someone that went through the same thing in the early 90s and had they same outcome

  3. Pete's Bench says:

Wow, that’s your interpretation of reality? And here I was giving you the benefit of the doubt.

  4. George says:

No, “Pete’s Bench”, I’m not trolling…. I’m being realistic. Besides, trolls live under bridges… I don’t live under a bridge.

  5. Emothug says:

Umm, I looked it up and I can’t find where if your child pees outside they get labeled a sex offender. Still looking though. Also, I disagree about no turn signals on Lum Rd for out of towners then no cops to be found during the week. I find them just fine at the safest place in town…Starbucks! I have all the Starbucks entered into my gps so I know when to start slowing down. Way better than a radar detector and you get to geo cache!

  6. Pete's Bench says:

    Okay, now you’re just trolling.

  7. George says:

Well, “Pete’s Bench”, neither can you. Perhaps we should just not charge anyone with any sex crimes, so we don’t run the risk of offending anyone… for that matter, let’s not charge anyone with anything, and we can go ahead and eliminate the police forces, since they won’t be needed to bust anyone except for who the liberals think should be locked up…

In other words, let’s not hold ANYONE accountable for their actions, right? After all, the guy that is 52 years old is only playing doctor with that 16 year old…. why not throw some farm animals out there too, because they need to be played doctor with as well….

First off George, the only traffic infraction I have received in over twenty years was going through the speed trap known as Buckley Wa. on my way skiing. That’s how little towns like that make their revenue, post a 25 mile per hour speed limit sign right at the outer edge of the city limit as your coming in on a highway ( 410 ) and not put up a reduced speed ahead sign to warn incoming motorists of the change. Locally Centralia PD is infamous for patrolling the streets around the outlets on weekends and nailing out of town shoppers for not using their turn signals, but come week days the locals speed down Lum Rd. at 45 mph and not a cop in sight.Just like how the city penalize property owners when delinquents ‘tag’ their buildings.Easy money.

And in your response to thistoshallpass you seem to acknowledge the one size fits all draconian over legislated state of ‘our’ state laws, but then reiterate how kids who may just be youthfully experimenting with shared curiosity are to rightfully be expected to be charged and prosecuted under adult statutes as sex offenders. You can’t have it both ways.

  9. George says:

@ Thistoshallpass, I am fully aware that our justice system is not perfect… it is far from it. but it seems to work. Yes, innocent people get caught up in it, and yes, a lot of the nonsense that comes out of it is just that: nonsense. But for that, you can blame the legislature… just look at the numbers of laws, rules, and regulations they pass, all in the name of “protecting us from ourselves”…

@ Pete’s Bench, I never said that those red light cameras were there for revenue (or anything else). I DO know that they are put in place “to make the intersection safer”, when in reality, all they do is raise revenue for the municipality. Truth be told, it is those folks who blast through those red lights (and subsequently get the ticket for doing so) who complain the loudest about them (kinda like what you did, eh?).

Still, I stand behind my words: If you can’t do the time or pay the price, then don’t do the act. Don’t want to be a sex offender for the rest of your life? Don’t commit a sex crime. Don’t like the current sex crime laws? Use your voice (and your vote).

Or you can just be a sheep and let government control what you do, say, or think.

  10. Pete's Bench says:

They were young kids, you never played ‘Doctor’ as a kid? If the incident was truly consensual between the two then labeling the kid a sex offender is over kill.

I’m glad George is on board with giving up his privacy and sense of autonomy for a sense of order. Those traffic cameras are all about raising revenue for municipality’s and the companies that lease them out.In my opinion that’s what most police agency’s main focus is nowadays, revenue generation via ‘ emphasis patrols’.

  11. Thistoshallpass says:

    @George

Because we all know only guilty people are convicted of sex crimes. We know this is true because our Judicial System is perfect, right?

    P.S.
Normally I agree with your posts.

  12. George says:

Don’t want to be labeled a sex offender? Don’t do any sex offenses. Kinda like those red light cameras that everyone whines about (especially those who run the red lights and get those tickets in the mail). If you can’t do the time, then don’t do the crime. It’s that simple.

  13. CJKKmommy says:

I personally know someone who had to deal with this. He was falsely accused and had to deal with multiply lie detectors, counseling, and juvenile hall. It took him over a yr to clear his name. What people don’t understand is the differences in sex offender status. A level one is with a family member least likely to offend. a level 2 is with a non family member and not likely to offend and a level 3 is most likely to offend. Our court system needs to take a serious look at this system especially for juveniles because most of the time it is not what you think. Also, just because they are not on the sex offender website does not mean that it can not be found. the only way to keep from that is to petition the courts to get the records sealed. also, just because they are not a sex offender anymore they still will have to fight to get there right to bear arms back. that is always the first thing that gets taken away and the only way to get that back is to go to the courts and petition to get that back as well. what people don’t realize is accusing someone one of a crime like this has lasting impressions. just because people don’t want there kids dating or they have a personal problem with someone this is usually the first thing that they accuse someone of and its harder to prove this didn’t happen than that it did. Its sad that people do this to others.

  14. JS says:

WTF, I am quite surprised that you don’t believe this could happen to a child. If your child pees outside they can be arrested and labeled a sex offender. These are the times we are living in.

  15. commoncents says:

Just so you know Brittany your friend’s story doesn’t seem to be right. According to the RCW for Child Rape (RCW 9a.44.079). He would have to be 48 months (4 years) apart in age for there to be a crime.

On another note, I believe there is a way to be relieved of the registering requirement if you stay crime free for long enough. I would like to know more about that…

  16. WTF says:

WOW. I think someone really needs to look into this because i find it very hard to believe. A single crime would not put a child at a level 2 ask any sex offender how many victims or crimes they have. Once again the media puts out slanted inforamtion to get sympathy…

  17. Brittany Morehead says:

It’s situations like this that really make me hate the justice system more than I already do. This same thing happened to one of my friends that I was in high school with. He was dating his girlfriend that he’d been with for a couple years and shortly after he turned 18 (she was only 15) her parents filed charges against him and he never got to graduate high school. He went to prison for 5 years. Bunch of bs if you ask me. Now he is labeled as a sex offender for the rest of his life. And it’s all because his girlfriends parents didn’t want them to be together. I understand that when you are that age, age can make a difference. But this girl was in the same grade as him. Although she was younger she had extra credits to put her in the same grade. And she was about to turn 16 in a couple of month. I was so sad for him when that happened.
