BARN FIRE

• Firefighters were called about 11:20 a.m. yesterday to a burning barn in the Adna area. Lost in the blaze on Gold Creek Place were a car, a truck and some “taxidermy items”, according to Lewis County Fire District 6 Firefighter Brad Core. “It was a fully involved fire, just a big fire, hot, with lots of stuff inside,” Core said. There were a couple of explosions, he said, presumably from ammunition or small propane tanks inside. The two-story building was probably a total loss, he said. District 6 was joined by members of the Boistfort and Napavine area fire departments. A fire investigator is looking into the cause.

WOMAN WITH KNIFE

• A 25-year-old woman was arrested after she allegedly pushed her way into a Centralia residence holding a large knife last night and threatened a resident. Officers called about 8 p.m. to the 400 block of Plum Street booked Laura L. Avery, of Roy, into the Lewis County Jail for first-degree burglary, according to the Centralia Police Department.

ASSAULT

• Centralia police are investigating an assault at the 1200 block of Alder Street from a call about 12:30 a.m. today. Further details were not readily available.

THEFT

• A green 1998 Volkswagen Jetta was reported stolen from the 1200 block of Lincoln Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police on Thursday night.

• The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office was called Thursday to the flea market in Packwood about a burglary the night before of a vendor’s tent. Taken between about 11:30 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. were about 50 used DVD movies, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• Centralia police took a report of a residential burglary on the 1400 block of Oxford Avenue in which a camera and money were taken sometime since Monday.

BAD BUS BEHAVIOR

• Centralia police were called about 1:30 p.m. on Thursday after a male in his early 20s reportedly sat on a Twin Transit bus next to a female and began “touching himself inappropriately.”

DRUGS

• A 31-year-old man was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and a warrant after contact with a police officer on North Pearl Street and Fremont Avenue in Centralia late yesterday afternoon. John C. Unterwegner, of Buckley, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• A 32-year-old Winlock man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance following a traffic stop in Chehalis on Thursday night at Southwest 11th Street and McFadden Avenue. Christopher C. Tortorici was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Tortorici was driving with a suspended license and a search after he was arrested turned up some suspected prescription pain pills in his pants pockets, according to Deputy Chief Randy.

FLOCK BLOCKS ROAD

• Chehalis police were called about 5:30 a.m. yesterday to Southwest Newaukum Avenue near the Veterans Museum where some 30 to 40 sheep were in the roadway.
