ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD
• Deputies and firefighters found no victims when they responded to an area along the 700 block of Big Hanaford Road about 12:30 a.m. today where a Toyota RAV4 had collided with a cedar tree. The impact basically tore the vehicle in half, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. It appeared the vehicle had been traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed before the crash, according to the sheriff’s office. Chief Deputy Bruce Kimsey said responders conducted a grid search and used a special heat-seeking tool looking for anyone who may have been in the vehicle. A witness said a vehicle did stop shortly after the accident, so the driver may have either gotten a ride or walked away.
OUT OF CONTROL
• A 37-year-old homeless man was arrested after police were called about 7:20 a.m. yesterday to the 900 block of South Scheuber Road. Michael L. Hensley allegedly was combative, disorderly and resisted officers when he was contacted, according to the Centralia Police Department. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail
for interfering with a health care facility and resisting arrest, according to police.
BAD CHECKS
• Chehalis police were called about 10:40 a.m. yesterday to the 1700 block of North National Avenue to take a report of the receipt of checks for which there were non-sufficient funds.
DRUGS
• Chehalis police were summoned to the 300 block of Southwest 16th Street about 12:40 p.m. yesterday, told a student had illegal narcotics on them. There was no arrest and no report was submitted on the incident, according to the Chehalis Police Department.
VANDALISM
• Centralia police took a report about 10:40 a.m. yesterday that someone broke out the driver’s side window to a vehicle at the 1500 block of Johnson Road. Nothing was taken, according to the Centralia Police Department.
UNLAWFUL BEGGING
• John S. Youngbrandt, 44, of Centralia, was issued a notice of infraction about 6:40 p.m. yesterday at Harrison Avenue and northbound Interstate 5 for allegedly violating Centralia’s pan handling ordinance after previously being warned not to, according to the Centralia Police Department.
