• A deputy responded to the Lewis County Jail about 5 p.m. yesterday when suspected heroin was found in the clothing of a 28-year-old Chehalis resident brought there for booking for an outstanding warrant. Jeremy L. Barnes was arrested for a violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

• Chehalis police called to the 500 block of South Market Boulevard just after noon yesterday found a suspect a few block away and a search incident to her arrest turned up prescription medication in her purse not in a prescription container, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Amanda B. Smith, 25, of Centralia, was arrested for possession of prescription medication without a prescription, according to police. She was booked into the Lewis County Jail.
