DOMESTIC ASSAULT

• A 24-year-old Chehalis man was arrested yesterday after allegedly pushing his wife down and then also for allegedly spanking a 2-year-old child leaving marks a couple of days earlier, according to the Chehalis Police Department. Officers were called about 3:30 p.m. to the residence on the 300 block of Southwest Third Street, but the suspect had left, according to police. The woman told officers about the spanking, something not previously reported, according to police. Joshua A. Carter was located in Centralia and booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault and for  third-degree assault of a child, according to department spokesperson Linda Bailey.

CARPORT THEFT CENTRALIA

• A deputy was called about 10 p.m. yesterday by a resident at the 1600 block of Windsor Avenue in Centralia who said he discovered his Lincoln electric grease gun and Stihl chainsaw were missing from his carport. He said he reviewed security images and saw that on Oct. 19, a female came into the area and left with the items, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The loss is estimated at $1,950, according to the sheriff’s office.

BREAK-IN CENTRALIA

• Centralia police were called to the 400 block of South Tower Avenue at 11:10 a.m. yesterday where employees arriving to a business had discovered a window open. What if anything is missing is not yet known, according to the Centralia Police Department.

AUTO THEFT

• A 1998 Toyota Camry was stolen from the 500 block of South Silver Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 8:30 a.m. yesterday. The car has a license plate reading BCS 6896, according to the Centralia Police Department.

ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD

• A bicyclist was hospitalized with a head injury after he ran into the back of a parked truck yesterday evening on Southwest Cascade Avenue in Chehalis. Police called about 6:15 p.m. to the scene near Fifth Street said witnesses didn’t see it happen, but heard it. The 54-year-old Chehalis resident was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital.

• Two vehicles were struck when a brake drum, from a vehicle being trailered, came off and fell onto the road way at the 1200 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia, according to a report made to police about 2:10 p.m. yesterday.
