BB GUN SCARE
• Three women fitting a saddle on a horse in Vader reported a 65-year-old man approached a fence from adjoining property, shouted “come over here” and raised a handgun, and fired what sounded like three shots yesterday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. A witness heard the women screaming and what sounded like three firecrackers, according to the sheriff’s office. A deputy dispatched about 12:20 p.m. to the 100 block of Enchanted Lane recovered a CO2-powered BB gun and arrested Richard Bakke for three counts of first-degree assault, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said. Bakke was booked into the Lewis County Jail. Prosecutors declined to file the felony charges but are evaluating the case for lesser charges in Lewis County District Court.
VEHICLE PROWL
• Chehalis police were called about 6:10 a.m. today to the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue where a silver Trek bicycle had been stolen from a vehicle. The value is about $2,500, according to the Chehalis Police Department.
DOG TOYS TAKEN
• A large tote containing dog toys was reported stolen about 6:20 a.m. today from the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue in Centralia.
YARD THEFT
• Police were called yesterday afternoon regarding yard decorations stolen from the 100 block of North Ash Street in Centralia.
MISSING MEDS
• Centralia police were called just after noon yesterday to the 1100 block of L Street to take a report about stolen medication.
FUEL THEFT
• Centralia police yesterday indicated they issued a summons for third-degree theft to a 26-year-old Chehalis man for theft of gas in a case associated with the 500 block of South Tower Avenue.
MISSING HONDA FOUND
• A deputy was called about 9:50 a.m. yesterday to take a report that a 34-year-old Chehalis woman had taken a 58-year-old woman’s 1999 Honda Accord the day before without permission from the 1700 block of Ferrier Road in Winlock. The car and the suspect were located in rural Chehalis and the suspect said she had been allowed to borrow it, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Sophea M. Delavergne was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for taking a motor vehicle without permission and a warrant, according to the sheriff’s office.
ON THE ROAD, OFF THE ROAD
• Centralia police responded just after 11:15 p.m. yesterday to a two-vehicle collision in front of the police department at West Maple and North Pearl streets in which both parties blamed the other, according to the Centralia Police Department. The drivers were both females and it was a dispute over relationship issues, according to police. Fault has not yet been determined, but damage was minimal and no injuries were reported, according to Sgt. Dave Clary.
• Chehalis police were called about 7:10 p.m. yesterday when a Ford Ranger drove through a patch of ivy and into a for sale sign in a yard near Southeast Prospect and 16th streets and was abandoned. The incident remains under investigation, according to the Chehalis Police Department.
