WANTED PERSON RUNS INTO TOLEDO HOUSE TO ESCAPE LAW
• When law enforcement responded to a suspicious person report about 1:40 p.m. yesterday and encountered two people outside the home at the 200 block of state Route 505 in Toledo, one of them reportedly ran away and forced his way into a neighboring residence belonging to an elderly woman. Chad N. Nickols was located inside and taken into custody, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The 38-year-old Chehalis man had an outstanding warrant from the state Department of Corrections, sheriff’s Capt. Curt Spahn said. He was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for the warrant and for residential burglary, Spahn said. A potential charge of obstructing was referred to prosecutors, according to the sheriff’s office. Prosecutors declined to file the felony charge and instead evaluated the case for a trespassing charge in Lewis County District Court.
SHED BURGLED
• A deputy was called about 4 p.m. yesterday to the 100 block of Northridge Drive in Centralia where someone had broken into a storage shed. The owner will be checking to see what if anything is missing, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Damage to the door which was forced open is estimated at $100, according to the sheriff’s office.
AUTO THEFT
• Two people were arrested just after 3:30 p.m. yesterday when a deputy spotted a stolen pickup truck traveling on West Reynolds Avenue in Centralia. A traffic stop was conducted with assistance from Centralia police and when the 2005 Nissan Titan was searched, suspected methamphetamine was found, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. Brittany R. Gilbert, 19, from Napavine, was booked into the Lewis County Jail for possession of meth, according to the sheriff’s office. The truck was one of four vehicles stolen since March 28 from their owner at the 2200 block of Seminary Hill Road in Centralia, sheriff’s Capt. Curt Spahn said. A car trailer was also taken, Spahn said. Bradley A. Sprouse, 38, of Centralia, was booked for possession of a stolen vehicle, four counts of theft of a motor vehicle and possession of meth, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies continue to investigate the case.
• Chehalis police were called a 8:10 a.m. yesterday about the overnight theft of a faded maroon 1987 Nissan pickup truck from the 10 block of Southwest Ninth Street. The missing truck has a partially tinted rear window, according to the Chehalis Police Department.
