• An individual at the 1200 block of North Pearl Street in Centralia reported about 6:40 a.m. today that sometime over the night someone broke into his storage and stole a subwoofer speaker box, according to the Centralia Police Department. The case is under investigation, according to police.

• A suspected shoplifter of electronics was confronted and detained by a witness about 8:50 p.m. yesterday at the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia, but was able to flee the scene before police arrived. The merchandise was left behind, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia police were called about 2:20 p.m. yesterday to the 1400 block of Harrison Avenue to take a report of an identity theft. The suspect who lives out of the area is receiving government benefits in the name of the victim according to the Centralia Police Department. The case is under investigation.

• A 28-year-old Chehalis woman was arrested for possession of methamphetamine after drug paraphernalia on her person allegedly field tested positive for meth, following her detention for allegedly shoplifting hair dye at a store on the 500 block of South Market Boulevard in Chehalis yesterday afternoon. Police called just before 3 p.m. booked Amanda M. Hickey into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Chehalis Police Department. The case will include a referral for charges of third-degree theft and also making or possessing motor vehicle theft tool related to keys she had, according to police.

• An officer was called to W.F. West High School in Chehalis just before 2 p.m. yesterday because a 14-year-old girl was allegedly in possession of a smoking device and green vegetable material. The substance will be tested, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

• A 40-year-old motorist stopped for speeding on southbound Interstate 5 in Chehalis just after 1 o’clock yesterday morning was subsequently arrested for possession of heroin. A trooper indicated in court documents he observed on the floorboard by the driver’s feet two clear plastic baggies, each with a small circle of dark brown substance, which the driver said was kids’ candy. Jose F. Lopez Jr., of Chehalis, was booked into the Lewis County Jail, charged today with possession of a controlled substance and ordered held on $5,000 bail. He told the trooper he had an addiction, according to charging documents.
