PROWLING INTERCEPTION LEADS TO FIGHT

• Centralia police are investigating a second-degree assault after the victim of a vehicle prowl confronted the perpetrators and a physical altercation ensued at Fourth and G streets in Centralia last night. Police were called just before 12:30 a.m. but the suspects had already fled, according to the Centralia Police Department. Officers learned from the 23-year-old victim that two males in a light blue Honda pulled up and the passenger tried to steal a chainsaw from his truck, but the victim struggled with him and got it back, according to police. The driver then backed the car up striking both of them, and got out with a beer bottle, according to Sgt. Jim Shannon. The victim let go and the two left, according to Shannon. Police located the car and have identified their suspects, according to Shannon.

CAMPAIGN SIGN DESTRUCTION

• A deputy was dispatched about 2:05 a.m. yesterday when individuals hired to keep an eye out observed someone vandalize a campaign sign posted on undeveloped land at Scheuber Road and state Route 6 in Chehalis. The 4-foot by 8-foot sign belonging to Lewis County Commissioner candidate Bob Bozarth, valued at $375, was sliced, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office. The witnesses gave chase and later, the deputy gained information on a person of interest, Chief Deputy Dusty Breen said. The victim had asked others to watch the sign because it had been damaged by vandals previously, according to Breen.

BREAK-IN CHEHALIS

• Chehalis police were called to the 1000 block of Southeast Evergreen Drive in Chehalis just after 9 p.m. yesterday following the discovery a downstairs door had been kicked in. Two chainsaws were stolen, according to the Chehalis Police Department.

AUTO THEFT

• A black 1995 Honda Civic was stolen from the 1800 block of Collision Street in Centralia sometime yesterday before about 3:40 p.m.,  according to the Centralia Police Department. It has a license plate reading 475 ZMO, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Police were called about 10:40 a.m. yesterday about a vehicle which had been stolen during the night and then found by the owner several blocks away in the area of the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue in Centralia. Some items inside were missing, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• An officer was called for a stolen car about 9:35 a.m. yesterday at the 600 block of E Street in Centralia. Taken during the night was a black 1997 Honda CRV with a license plate reading 454 YTY, according to the Centralia Police Department.

CAR PROWL

• Police were called about 7:30 a.m. yesterday for a vehicle prowl at the 2800 block of Mount Vista Road in Centralia. A backpack with school items stolen, according to the Centralia Police Department.

TRESPASS

• Two people were arrested just after 11 a.m. yesterday for trespassing when they were found sleeping in a vacant residence on the 2700 block of Mount Vista Road in Centralia. Theresa M. Clark, 45, and Travis L. Gray, 36, both from Centralia, were cited and then released, according to the Centralia Police Department.

DRUGS

• Chehalis police on Friday referred a case from July to prosecutors after lab results came back positive for methamphetamine and heroin in a case involving a 28-year-old Onalaska resident arrested for shoplifting at the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue.
