A woman who’d locked herself in a bathroom and allegedly tried to stab an arriving police officer was hospitalized and then jailed last night.
Centralia police were called about 2:50 p.m. yesterday for a disorderly person at the 300 block of North Gold Street, according to the Centralia Police Department.
When she was contacted, police said, she tried to stab the officer with the sharp end of a broken wooden handle. Rebecca L Higgins, no age or hometown immediately available, was then physically subdued, according to police.
She was transported to the emergency room at Providence Centralia Hospital to be evaluated for possible mental health, medical and/or drug overdose issues, according to police.
Higgins was treated and has been booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree assault, according to police.
