WORK TRUCK IN THE WOODS CATCHES FIRE
• Firefighters from Boistfort and Pe Ell answered a call about 11 o’clock yesterday morning for a vehicle fire on a Weyerhaeuser logging road off the Pe Ell-McDonald Road. It was a service truck and was burning pretty good when crews arrived, said Assistant Fire Chief Tim Baars. Nobody was injured, but the truck was a total loss, according to Baars. He didn’t know what caused the work truck to catch fire.
MOTEL CLERK TRICKED
• A police officer was called to Ferrymans Inn yesterday afternoon after a man posing as one of the guests returned a key to the front counter and collected the room deposit. Minutes later, the real renter of the room came to check out from the motel on the 1000 block of Eckerson Road next to Interstate 5, according to the Centralia Police Department. Police say there is no other suspect information and they are investigating. The amount stolen as not reported by police.
BRINGING MARIJUANA TO JAIL
• A 15-year-old Onalaska boy found himself in further trouble when he was being checked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center yesterday and they found marijuana on him, according to the Chehalis Police Department.
CARRYING METHAMPHETAMINE IN THE CAR
• Chehalis police arrested a 47-year-old Randle man for possession of methamphetamine during a traffic stop about 4 o’clock this morning at Southwest Cascade Avenue and Southwest Third Street. Randy J. Toups was booked into the Lewis County Jail, according to the Chehalis Police Department.
THEFTS IN CHEHALIS
• Chehalis police were called about 1:30 p.m. yesterday about the theft of a PlayStation game box from Northeast Washington Avenue.
• Chehalis police took a report just before 4 p.m. yesterday of a wallet being stolen from a van near Southeast Washington Street.
THROWING EGGS AND ROCKS
• Officers were called about 12:45 a.m. today to a home on the 200 block of South King Street in Centralia where somebody had been throwing eggs at the windows. A resident told police they heard voices outside and then heard people running away, according to Centralia police.
• Three vehicles at a used car lot on the 200 block of South Tower Avenue in Centralia were damaged by kids throwing rocks at them, according to a report made to police about 9:30 yesterday morning.
