CHEHALIS – A judge ordered a 20-year-old Centralia resident held on $500,000 bail in connection with an incident in which a man was found beaten and bleeding in the parking lot of Providence Centralia Hospital.

On Friday morning, Centralia police described the initial details as someone was trying to make a 37-year-old Centralia man drive somewhere, he got scared, pulled into the lot and was pistol whipped.

Charging documents in the case describe the victim as meeting someone he’d sold some wheels to, in order to get paid, and two males getting into his car, one of them shoving a pistol into his ribs and them telling him to drive out to a wooded area.

He said he noticed a third male following them in a white Honda-style car.

When he refused, and turned into the hospital parking lot along South Scheuber Road instead, the two males struck him, according to court documents.

A person visiting a friend at the hospital found the victim bleeding from his head and face, stumbling through the lot and helped him into the emergency room, according to court documents.

Officers arriving after the 10:20 p.m. call from the hospital last Thursday night, were told security found the unoccupied vehicle running with the driver’s door open and a large pool of blood on the ground nearby.

Inside the car was a BB gun the victim said was not his his. A wallet and .22 caliber bullet were found nearby.

The victim, Juventino Barrera-Martinez, told police he didn’t know the names of the males in his car, but did know the front seat passenger worked at Taco El Rey and lived on Russell Road, Lewis County Senior Deputy Prosecutor Will Halstead wrote in court documents.

On Friday morning, David Serrano Mosso, 20, from Centralia, was arrested for consuming alcohol in violation of his 24/7 program with the Centralia Police Department. He was  booked into the Lewis County Jail.

Because he fit the description provided by the victim, Officer Buddy Croy questioned Serrano Mosso and found he worked at Taco El Rey and lived on Russell Road, Halstead wrote. He denied buying any wheels.

The victim picked Serrano Mosso from a photo montage on Sunday, as the individual in the front passenger seat of his car who had pulled the pistol on him, and assaulted him, according to Halstead.

Serrano Mosso was charged yesterday in Lewis County Superior Court with first-degree assault and first-degree kidnapping.

Lewis County Chief Criminal Deputy Prosecutor Brad Meagher asked that he be held on $500,000 bail, and Judge Nelson Hunt agreed.

Centralia attorney Don Blair was appointed to represent him. Serrano Mosso’s arraignment was scheduled for this morning.

That was my Father, and you guys out there who think you know it all are wrong. He was a family member of mine and to think that someone would do that to him is petrifying. That man deserved the sentence that he got !

Trusting and have big hearts, interesting. I think it’s more like naive. I don’t think anyone blames the victim sweety, it’s just real hard for me to understand a few things, one being if he knew the punk as an acquaintance, knew his places of employment and residence but he didn’t pick up on the fact that this punk is some wannabe badass turd?? Really, pull a gun over a couple hundred bucks, so not worth it. Anyway, hope the dude gets well and hope he learned something here.

    Probably just a cultural thing.

Actually if u read the story they were aquiantances and he knew where he worked had his phone # and where he lived. But again everyone can believe whatever they want. Some ppl r trusting and have big hearts sorry you don’t know them. And since i heard every conversation from the victim to the suspect plus was there when the wheels were picked up i guess i would know better than you. Was it a mistake to trust the punk absolutley but was he doing something wrong? No. Ppl will believe whatever they want but he told the truth. He was injured and is much larger of a man than this lil boy so if it was a fight believe me that little boy would have marks of some sort. I just dont get ppl blaming a victim. It’s ludacris to me. And they tried to just not bring them back but he bothered them all day to either bring back the rims or the $ guess he got tired of being bothered, it will pay out in court. But the victims story has never changed and all the suspect can say was “i wasn’t there, it wasn’t me” real good defense. Ppl generally disgust me. He was severley beaten to the head with a gun and other objects by more than one person has severe injuries, but let’s blame him not the 20 yr old punk wannabe that thinks thus stuff makes him a man. Gid this world is going to shit!

So, the transaction was, he sold them, “the wheels.” However, they had no money on hand to pay for them at that time. He didn’t know any of them personally. But trusted them enough to let them leave with, “the wheels,” believing they’d return later to make good on payment. And his unknown buyers didn’t do the expected thing, of just vamoosing never to return. But instead, came back under the false guise of paying for “the wheels,” and well, the story tells the rest. Uh huh. Sure.

With Blair on the case, the trial is a guaranteed slam dunk conviction, unless Hunt presides, and then it’s the old tennis game with the appeals court, costing the taxpayers dearly in the form of underfunded schools, fire department, and youth facilities like pools, ball courts, and skateboarding parks. But don’t worry, they’ll just work extra hard giving everybody those tickets that carry only monetary punishment to make up for it. Go ahead and drive as careful as possible and obey every law in the universe, they’ll just think of something to fine you for.

And with as few people out there that know a bit about the law, they’ll get away with it too because well, there’s television to watch and tweets to make and all that legalese is boring. A cop can tell someone that it’s against the law to give them the finger or call them assholes because they don’t know anything about the law. All they know is what works, and that is brute force.

I hope this young man enjoys the circus that awaits him on the second floor of the Lewis County Courthouse.

To think this is gang related is ridiculous and sounds like somebody’s racial profiling…. He was just trying to sell unneeded wheels… This man has a family and the only thing he did wrong was trusting people

  8. Whywhywhy says:

Actually never, just sayin victims seem to always be put out there on here. Im actually a stay at home mom and no we have no gang affiliation maybe the suspects do idk. But actually he was trying all day to make contact not late at night thats just when they finally called to pay him and he wasnt going to not go since they had avoided him all day. But assume all u want to. Thanks. Lmao! I love how ppl r always quick to blame the victim. He’s injured enough and beating himself up enough for not seeing this coming and going alone to meet the guy (he had no idea there were more than one) plus only 2 got in the car not 3 the 3rd was in a car following him. How many times do ppl have stuff like this happen for selling things on fb or craigslist? And he let them in….. they had a gun! Was he supposed to say no?

  9. BleeBloo says:

“thanks again”? how many times have you been involved in this kind of stuff?

  10. Don Johnson says:

Why is a 37 year old man meeting people that late to do some sales transaction? Why did he allow two then three people into his car? Something more to this story I think Something tells me that this is gang related.

  11. Whywhywhy says:

Just wondering if putting the victims name was necessary since there r 2 suspects unaccounted for. Juventino has a family and these ppl know them. They also know his address as well as his girlfriends address. But thanks again lewis county sirens i wont be sleeping well again since i am that girfriend!
