CHEHALIS – A man was found dead in Centralia’s Rotary Riverside Park this morning, according to the Centralia Police Department.
Police department spokesperson detective Patty Finch said officers were called just after 7 a.m. to the park off Harrison Avenue just east of Interstate 5.
It’s not yet known how he died or why he was in the park but it doesn’t appear suspicious, Finch said. She said she believed he was discovered by a “transient”.
“There are no wounds, there is no reason for us to believe it was a homicide,” Finch said.
The Lewis County Coroner’s Office will have to figure out the cause of death and who he is, Finch said.
Lewis County Coroner Warren McLeod indicated late this afternoon he has a tentative identification of the person and plans an autopsy for tomorrow.

Please people, why do we have to keep blaming the DRUGS, Everytime something happens; a death, someone missing, homeless, someone standing in a certain spot just standing there, or wavering there hands around. Please take a minute and gather facts, cause I think it’s rude personally, some if these people are looking for help, love, shelter, give them a chance like god gave us.
How many bad choices does it take to wind up dead in a park in Trumplandia?
Ahhhh, maybe these “poor souls” chose drugs over a warm bed???
I totally agree with you Sandy Henderson. Not to mention how many houses are empty, and not listed for sale or rent. It is all stupid and doesn’t make any sense why people can’t have a warm place to sleep.
I hope they find his family. This is sad. I’m not making guesses but with so many homeless and not enough shelters though. With all the money that’s been wasted or lost.given away yes by our government things could be done to help those that need it
